Chris was born and educated in Forres, where he has lived all his life. In the 1990s, he served for 10 years on the Community Council as Secretary and Chairman of the Planning Sub-Committee. He was also deeply involved with The Falconer Museum, serving as Secretary of The Friends of The Falconer Museum in the early 2000s and later leading the volunteer team responsible for many exhibitions and events. He worked for 20 years at the local Bank of Scotland branch and, outside his job, presented programmes on Moray Firth Radio, including a weekly computer show in the 1980s during the early days of home computing and a three-hour Saturday night entertainment show with Rosie, who later became his wife. He produced the first websites for the Forres Gazette, The Falconer Museum, and the town itself. In recognition of his community work, he was made a Burgess of the Royal Burgh of Forres. Having lived with chronic pain throughout his life, he is proud to have run his own registered charity for chronic pain sufferers. “Affa Sair” was part of the Scottish Government’s chronic pain task force and was the first wholly patient-run chronic pain charity in Scotland.
